The Legacy
Harold and Velda Rounsaville of Tulsa, Oklahoma got their first Boxer in 1960. It was CH. CanyonAir Hickory Dick, CD grandson. In 1970 they got their first bitch. She was aquired from Harold's brother, Carl, and his wife, Mary. After Harold and Velda paid the stud fee, they got the pick puppy. She was named Rounsaville's First Fancy. She was bred and produced Rounsaville's Autumn Gold. She was bred to Int. CH. Brumble Carolina Star and that gave them their Har-Vel's Sweet 'N Sassy. They quit using the Rounsaville prefix because of the length of it, which limited the use of other names with it. Sweet 'N Sassy produced two ABC Sires of Merit: CH. Har-Vel's Gold Express and CH. Har-Vel's Josh's Gold, CD. The sire of these two was Int. CH. Marburl's Joshua, LOM. Each of these Sires of Merit in turn produced a Sire of Merit. CH. Har-Vel's Gold Express produced CH. Rochil's Grande Marshall, while CH. Har-Vel's Josh's Gold, CD produced Sire of Merit CH. Jo-San's Future Time. He is the result of a full sister- brother breeding (CH. Har-Vel's Josh's Gold x Har-Vel's Gold Dust).
Harold and Velda's first champion was CH. Har-Vel's Gold Chips, who was a litter mate to Sweet 'N Sassy. Gold Chips produced their ABC Dam of Merit, the great producing bitch CH. Oliver's Solid Gold, who they bought from Emmett and Mary Oliver, the owners of the great CH. Treceders Sequel. CH. Oliver's Solid Gold, fondly known as "Candy", was the ABC Dam of the Year for 1989. Can CH. Glencotta's Gunsmoke of Rochil, owned by the Wainwright's, a CKC Sire of Merit is a product of Har-Vel breeding through CH. Rochil's Grande Marshall, his sire.
Velda's Mentors were (Virgina Latham) Valatham Boxers, (Pat
Childers) Childer's Boxers and (Aimee Acklen) Acklen Boxers. Velda herself is now a mentor to many new breeders who have sought her advise on breeding.
Harold and Velda have always used top-quality producing sires in their breeding program.
The above was written by Richard Tomita author of "The World Of The Boxer". Any one interested in the Boxer breed should read his book. It is a great tribute to the Boxer.
Velda is a Lifetime Member of the American Boxer Club, Lifetime Member of The Heart of America Boxer Club, and the Lifetime Member of the Boomer Boxer Club of Oklahoma.
